Stabby Women is a project of serendipity, which has crossed borders and continents. Originally set free to invade São Paulo, this band of female warriors has grown in power and strength to occupy the nooks and crannies of cities worldwide.
Armies of over five hundred Stabby Women now patrol our streets amongst the hustle and bustle of New York, Paris, Barcelona, Munich and London – a cast of heroines that peer from the bottom of doorways, subtly patrolling their domain. This fanzine is a document of that, so this nomadic tribe is not forgotten, like so many of their foremothers.

If I remember correctly, they were after something “a bit like the Pharcyde artwork, but in your own style and a bit French” (?)

Here’s the series of 12″s, EPs and LP I illustrated between 2000 and 2003, including the epic party scene based on a real life experience at Le Batofar and my own interpretation of Leguman, pre You Tube. Ouias mec. 

In 1991 I was one of the young budding cartoonists lucky enough to be chosen to be a “workshopper” on Rolf’s Cartoon Club. We were asked to create stop-frame animations to accompany his world famous song, Sun Arise which was due for a rerelease in the pop charts later that year. He even coaxed me into singing “spreading all the light all around” with him on national TV, which I was pretty embarrassed about at the time. This was the same year I started painting graffiti. 
 

I just got sent this video clip of Rolf Harris & 808 State from the same era, painting and recording together at Fon Studios in Sheffield.

In 1997 when I first moved to the city, I painted the same wall further down, which then became a (sadly short lived) Hall of Fame. The pieces ended up joining into Rolf’s original painting, which is still in tact to this day. I’d always heard about his collaboration with 808 state, but it’s amazing to finally see footage of it. 
 

Who’d have thunk Rolf was such a bad boy? This version is pretty swish too. One for the next mixtape then. Word.

If any of that was too small to actually read, basically: Record a demo tape so wack/dope it turns your cassette deck into an evil robot, Summon the powers of your local superheroes with your Thistle Whistle™ so they can kick him in until he cries, Accidently get the demo tape wet with his robot tears and this will magically transform the music into 500 evil records you’ll then have to try and sell at gigs and chain-with-no-name stores. Alternatively, stick them in the attic, bin them or take them to a charity shop in about 15 years time. Go get ‘em.

You want a record label run by overlords? Then cross the road and don’t use the robot. These Tommy Tuggers are spagulaters in the world wide spider’s web of time, truth, and honour amongst tea leafs.

Damn straight. For those of you who don’t know, back in the mid 90′s we formed a crew called Invisible Spies. This wasn’t a graffiti crew (but we did write our knick-names in bubble letters on the back of our rucksacks and rough books). This was a loose collective for a gaggle of Foxy Boxers who spent their precious time making fanzines (including the seminal Velcro Grass and A Bag of Tricks & Porno Flicks) Super 8 Films (such as the 3 minute wonders - Robot & The Princess, From Clapham With Love and Sorry For Any Delay) and forming bands (Brian & The Teenagers, Mongrels, Death Row Sandwich and Purple Face to name but a few). 
 

Although we began releasing limited run 7″ vinyls in 1996 (under the name C. U Next Tuesday Records), Invisible Spies truly came into being in the year 2000 (AKA the year Two Hundred) with our inaugoral release – a vinyl only album as our latest incarnation, Toah Dynamic. Not many people start a record label with an LP recorded in a garden shed, and even fewer use their brother’s GCSE artwork as the front cover and name the album after his GCSE art project, “Movement”. But there you have it. The school gave him a “D” for his efforts, but we gave him the double thumbs up and pressed 1,000 copies. Take that Fatcher.

Must Be A Duppy

on VHS, but son – I still got love for the game. Dan Phlegm asked me to give him a T-shirt design for the House skate park in Sheffield. They’re raising money to keep afloat due to increasing business rates and whatnot. This is my artistic interpretation of the statue at Pigeon Sh*t Square, a favourable street spot in town. Radical.
